[South Korean Man Smuggles Drugs Using Dark Web and Cryptocurrency, Caught Despite Using AI to Search for Countermeasures] Deep Tide TechFlow reports that on August 19, according to Yonhap News Agency, the Seoul Main Customs Office of the Korea Customs Service arrested and transferred a 29-year-old man, identified as A, to the prosecution on charges of violating narcotics control laws. From December last year to April this year, A smuggled a total of four types of drugs, including 58.95g of synthetic marijuana, 6 cannabis cartridges, and 2.9g of cocaine, through international parcels sent from Europe on six separate occasions. A placed orders on overseas dark web platforms, paid for the drugs using cryptocurrency, and used fake recipient names and addresses, disguising the declared items as "electronic cigarettes" to conceal the drugs. Notably, A also used AI to search for "countermeasures when caught" in an attempt to evade tracking. However, authorities were able to identify and apprehend him near his residence through digital forensics and other scientific investigation methods.
