BlockBeats reports that on August 19, according to The Wall Street Journal, OpenAI informed investors that its second-quarter revenue grew by 18% compared to the first quarter, but losses further widened. This outcome has left some shareholders disappointed, as they had hoped the startup would make more progress in catching up with its competitor Anthropic. According to sources familiar with the matter, the company generated $6.7 billion in revenue during the three months ending in June, compared to $5.7 billion in the first quarter. At the same time, its operating profit margin further declined, making the prospect of achieving profitability before its highly anticipated IPO even more uncertain.
