Stock Token Derivative FCN: A New Dual-Currency Investment Option

With the rapid growth in the number of stock token users and trading volume, derivative products centered around stock tokens are starting to emerge. Bitget has introduced FCN (Fixed Coupon Note) for their U.S. stock token rToken. The name might sound a bit confusing at first, but if you compare it to existing crypto products, you'll get it: it's dual-currency investment. Yep, it follows the same logic as dual-currency products—buy/sell at a specific price and earn interest, with options as the underlying mechanism.
(Of course, these types of products actually originated in traditional financial markets, which are much older and more mature. Crypto's dual-currency products are essentially borrowed from traditional finance.)
Here’s how Bitget’s FCN product works:
Let’s say NVIDIA’s stock price is $225 right now. You invest 10,000 USDT and want to buy NVIDIA at a 10% discount ($202.5) within a one-month term, with a 20% interest rate. There are only two possible outcomes:
◎ If the price at maturity is ≥ $202.5, you get back your principal of 10,000 USDT + interest of 167 USDT.
◎ If the price at maturity is < $202.5, your 10,000 USDT will be used to buy 49.38 rNVDA at $202.5 + interest of 167 USDT.
This type of structured investment product is ideal for people who want to buy/sell a specific stock at a certain price. It’s better than simply placing a limit order at your target price because you can earn some extra fixed interest.
Of course, it’s not risk-free. For example, if NVIDIA drops to $190, even with the interest earned, the total value of the rNVDA you bought at $202.5 would still be less than your initial 10,000 USDT.
