[Chainalysis Sues U.S. Government: Questions ICE's Direct Award of $94.6 Million Contract to TRM Labs] BlockBeats News, August 18 — Blockchain analytics company Chainalysis, through its government business division Chainalysis Government Solutions, has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) over its decision to directly award a contract worth approximately $94.6 million to competitor TRM Labs, questioning the procurement decision as 'unreasonable and arbitrary.' On July 27, Chainalysis submitted a protest to the U.S. Federal Claims Court regarding a one-year contract spanning from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027, which involves providing blockchain forensic software and support services for the Homeland Security Special Task Force. TRM Labs intervened in the case on July 28 to defend the contract alongside the U.S. government. ICE had previously conducted market research over a period of only about six days, during which it received responses from eight companies and concluded that only TRM Labs possessed the required capabilities. Chainalysis's core claims remain sealed due to the involvement of trade secrets. The court has scheduled oral arguments for September 2 and has requested the government to make a decision no later than September 10. [Original Link]
