[Ethereum Foundation Warning: Glamsterdam Upgrade May Cause Some Tools to Malfunction]
According to Cointelegraph, the Ethereum Foundation (EF) has warned that changes to the Gas model in the upcoming Glamsterdam upgrade may cause certain wallets, indexers, and Gas estimation tools to experience issues. The EF protocol operations team stated that any tools relying on hardcoded maximum Gas limits 'will not function' and need to be updated promptly. Developers are urged to test their systems on the Platåberget testnet. The Glamsterdam upgrade is set to activate on August 20, followed by deployment to the Sepolia and Hoodi testnets. The EF team explained that EIP-8037 will introduce an independent state Gas dimension. Transferring ETH to existing accounts will still cost 21,000 Gas, but transferring to new accounts will incur an additional state Gas fee.
