[Bank of America: Anthropic Leads Cutting-Edge AI Model Rankings, Token Prices Loosen but GPU Rental Rates Remain Firm]
DeepTech TechFlow reports that on August 18, according to Trend Research, Bank of America Securities released a cutting-edge AI data tracking report on August 17, showing that Anthropic leads across three major AI benchmark tests. Claude Opus 5 ranks first in Intelligence Index, Agent Index, and Programming Agent Index, followed by GPT-5.6 Sol. Meta MuseSpark 1.2 entered the top ten, while Google Gemini 3.6 Flash fell outside the top ten.
In terms of usage, DeepSeek leads with approximately 30% of Vercel platform token share, followed by Anthropic at 25% and OpenAI at 16%. However, in terms of payment share, Anthropic dominates with 65%, while OpenAI accounts for only 11%.
On the pricing front, the AI Token Price Index fell 9% month-over-month in August to $2.21 but remains up 87% year-over-year. GPU rental rates remain firm, with H100 up 33% year-over-year to $2.77 per hour, DRAM up 483% year-over-year, and NAND up 432% year-over-year.
The report concludes that demand for AI infrastructure remains healthy, with open-source model usage growing, but paid market share remains highly concentrated among leading closed-source models. Bank of America believes that the release of Meta's 'Watermelon' and Google Gemini 4, token pricing trends, and GPU rental rate dynamics are the three key variables to watch moving forward.
The high prices of DRAM and NAND continue to pressure cloud service providers' profit margins, but the firmness of GPU rental rates suggests that server lifespans may be meeting or exceeding expectations, supporting the long-term demand logic for GPU suppliers like NVIDIA.
