[Bithumb's Revenue Plummets 48.7% in the First Half of the Year, Net Loss Exceeds $70 Million] According to Yonhap News Agency, South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb released its financial report for the second quarter of 2026, revealing that its revenue for the first half of the year was 168.8 billion KRW (approximately $109 million), a sharp decline of 48.7% compared to the same period last year. Operating profit was 14.9 billion KRW (approximately $9.6 million), down 83.4% year-on-year, with a net loss of 108.7 billion KRW (approximately $70.1 million). Additionally, Bithumb's revenue for the second quarter was 86.3 billion KRW (approximately $55.7 million), a year-on-year decrease of 35.8%. Operating profit was 12.1 billion KRW (approximately $7.8 million), down 44.0% year-on-year. Bithumb stated that the decline in performance was primarily due to the continued high-interest rate policy in the United States, which shifted the focus and funds of investors in South Korea and globally toward AI, semiconductors, and other stock markets, leading to reduced activity in the virtual asset trading market.
