[Texas Tightens Data Center Regulations: Galaxy, Compass, and Others Commit to Compliance]
Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that AI infrastructure company Galaxy, data center operator Compass Datacenters, and Montera Infrastructure have committed to adhering to the state's new standards and regulatory requirements for data center construction. Greg Abbott stated that the relevant 'guardrail policies' are being fully implemented to ensure that the expansion of data centers does not increase the burden on Texas residents while protecting power supply, water resources, and the community environment. He noted that one data center project that failed to meet the requirements has already chosen to terminate operations before breaking ground.
