Agree with Rasmr on part of this -
E.g. there eventually should be a point where you are willing to sell
But, the main point I disagree on is that “buying and holding” is a bad strategy.
It’s only a bad strategy if you either:
a) don’t really believe in the meme
Or
b) you’re not bullish on the direction of the broader market
The issue we have is that there are so many people who hype up a meme like it’s a generational narrative and somehow within 24 hours are like nah I mean it was great, but that was the extent of its potential so I had to sell because here’s the next generational narrative… that they then end up rinsing and repeating over and over again.
So none of the names are great.
It’s constantly a dog chasing its tail.
And yes, more people get rinsed in the process.
But - what I believe is different right now on Robinhood Chain especially is that it’s a new chain.
That means new lore.
New opportunities to define narratives that transcend their way into the next bull market.
So - yes, you can still “have a traders mindset” and perform alright, but I think the majority of people who do have that mindset will get rinsed.
Vs. betting on narratives that can organically be carried by the growth of the chain itself take away all of the stress of trading and transform the mindset of dips into opportunities.
Because you actually believe in something.
So it all depends on where you think we are in this cycle especially with Robinhood Chain itself.
If you think it’s topped, Rasmr is probably right.
If you don’t on the other hand, find something you believe in that’s already had some solid distribution and momentum and just hold.
Murad only got his name for his conviction to hold.
And it worked for him.
I think he eventually should have been willing to take some off the table, but had he never believed in the first place he never would have been in the discussion of “oh what should he have done” because he would have gotten rid of those positions within the first four days of holding them.
People remember you for what you believe in.
If you believe in nothing, that’s what you’ll be remembered for, and you’ll probably end up with nothing in the process.(K A L E O)
