I’ve been feeling more and more lately that Binance and OKX launching U.S. stock tokens isn’t really about 'putting U.S. stocks on-chain.'
What’s the thing exchanges fear the most?
It’s not you losing money—it’s you withdrawing your money.
In the past, when there weren’t opportunities in the crypto space, funds would flow back to brokers to buy NVDA, TSLA. But now, if a single account lets you trade crypto, U.S. stocks, gold, and more, there’s no reason for users’ money to leave.
This is actually about competing for capital inflows, not just trading products.
Looking further ahead, the line between exchanges and brokers will become increasingly blurred.
Whoever can keep global funds within their account system 24/7 will be the real winner.
U.S. stock tokens are just the first step.
