Deep Tide TechFlow reports, on August 14, Goldman Sachs' Chief India Economist Santanu Sengupta stated on Friday that India's workforce is unlikely to face mass unemployment due to artificial intelligence, though certain positions in the service sector may be affected. In an interview, Sengupta noted that compared to many other countries, the impact of AI on India will be relatively limited. He explained: "The primary reason is India's large labor force, with a significant number of workers engaged in mechanical or physical labor." He mentioned that the construction and retail sectors employ approximately 40% of India's workforce, "which currently will hardly be impacted by AI, with the main effects seen in the service sector." Goldman Sachs estimates that if the implementation of AI is carried out in an orderly manner, the disruption could be mitigated, and overall productivity may increase by 0.4 percentage points over the next decade.
