According to CryptoSlate, a study published at the 35th USENIX Security Symposium tested 15 major x402 payment service providers, including Coinbase, Thirdweb, PayAI, and Mogami. The study found that all tested platforms violated at least one security rule, with a total of 49 rule violations and 31 different vulnerabilities identified. These service providers accounted for 99% of x402 transaction volume and 98% of payment amounts during the study period, though this does not mean the same proportion of transactions contained vulnerabilities. The risks were categorized as free access to goods or services, asset theft, service disruption, and gas fee abuse, with six attack paths validated under restricted conditions. Researchers did not actually transfer assets from the service providers. Coinbase, PayAI, and Mogami collectively confirmed six vulnerabilities, some of which have been fixed, while others are still being addressed. The scope of these fixes within the actual x402 infrastructure remains unclear. https://(wublock123.com)/news/coinbase-and-15-of-402-payments-providers-security-violations-66507
