OpenAI has started selling revival tokens, and if you run out of credits, no worries—¥8 to revive on the spot
Reddit now offers a $20/month Plus reset option. When your credits are used up, you don’t need to upgrade to Pro or wait for the next cycle—just pay $8 to directly reset your Codex usage limit.
Plus itself is only $20/month, but a single reset costs $8, which is 40% of the monthly fee. Not sure what the final pricing will be, but at the current rate, it’s ridiculously expensive.
Let’s assume Codex has 3 million weekly active heavy users in the future. Even if only 10% of them buy one $8 reset per week, that would generate about $2.4 million/week, or $125 million in annualized extra revenue.
If all 3 million users bought one reset, that’s $24 million/week, annualized to over $1.2 billion.
The pricing model for AI software is increasingly looking like subscription + data packages: the base subscription keeps you hooked, while heavy usage is charged separately via credits, limits, or resets.
