[Boltz Founder Steps Down, Anonymous Bitcoin Group Agrees to Take Over Suspended Swap Service] According to The Defiant, Bitcoin swap service provider Boltz announced on Wednesday that its original founder has immediately stepped down from the project. An anonymous group of 'veteran Bitcoin enthusiasts' has agreed to take over the suspended swap service. The new operators will provide funding and engineering resources and are currently identifying and fixing vulnerabilities. Boltz has not disclosed the name of the group, with the goal of restoring the swap functionality 'as soon as possible.' The original founder will not retain any formal or managerial roles, and any future participation in open-source software development will be purely voluntary. Boltz suspended its services on August 3, citing a sustained increase in the frequency, intensity, and complexity of AI-assisted attacks over several months. Multiple successful attacks caused losses to the company, but due to its non-custodial model, user funds were never at risk. Boltz describes itself as a self-reliant startup with only five team members, unable to withstand such attacks over the long term.
