[A Month Behind Claude, OpenAI Finally Brings Codex Desktop Version to Linux]
According to monitoring by Beating, OpenAI has launched a Linux version of the ChatGPT desktop application, currently in the preview stage. ChatGPT, Work, and Codex are all integrated into a single app, giving Linux users a desktop experience similar to macOS and Windows. It currently supports Ubuntu 24.04, 26.04 LTS, Debian 13, and Fedora 43, 44, with both x64 and ARM64 versions available. Anthropic released the Linux desktop version of Claude about a month ago.
