Stablecoin cards hit $759 million in July: less than $1 million three years ago!
Stablecoins are truly entering everyday payments.
In July, global crypto payment card spending reached a record $759 million, a year-on-year increase of about 2.5x, with nearly 9 million transactions completed, averaging around $86 per transaction.
Among them, USDC accounted for 58% and USDT for 26%, with the two combined taking 84% of the total spending.
When users swipe their cards, stablecoins are directly converted into local fiat currency in the background, so merchants don’t even need to know you’re using crypto. The vast majority of transactions are still processed through the Visa network in the end.
Stablecoins handle global holding and settlement, while Visa takes care of the last-mile payment.
The future is here, but we’re still in the buildup phase. The bull run is on its way…
