[Nasdaq Acquires Dark Pool Trading Platform LeveL to Expand U.S. OTC Trading Footprint]
According to Bloomberg, Nasdaq Inc. has agreed to acquire the U.S. over-the-counter stock trading platform LeveL Markets (a dark pool), purchasing full ownership of the alternative trading system. The transaction amount has not been disclosed. Nasdaq President Tal Cohen stated that LeveL will provide greater flexibility in execution methods and liquidity services for the company. LeveL was launched in 2006 with the backing of multiple banks, and Nasdaq had already made a strategic investment in 2021, joining institutions such as Bank of America, Fidelity Investments, and Citigroup as shareholders at the time.
