According to Wu Blockchain, research from the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) reveals that North Korea is increasingly leveraging money laundering networks used by scam groups and organized crime to process stolen crypto assets. The report estimates that between January 2024 and September 2025, North Korea will steal at least $2.8 billion in virtual assets. Some of these funds will be sold to third parties at a discount or mixed with proceeds from scams like 'pig-butchering' schemes, making it harder for exchanges to identify the transactions. The cash-out process also involves money mules in regions like the Philippines and Indonesia, with transactions split and converted into fiat currency through OTC and P2P channels. The report cites monitoring data indicating that of the nearly $1.5 billion in assets stolen from Bybit in 2025, about 95% flowed through decentralized services. As of September 2025, the stolen funds have been cashed out and converted into fiat or hard currency. https://(wublock123.com)/news/rusi-north-korea-stolen-crypto-flowing-to-third-party-money-laundering-networks-66317
