[Suspected Mysterious Entity Address Takes on $42 Million in Crude Oil Short Positions, Adds $25 Million in Margin Amid Floating Losses] BlockBeats News, August 11: According to monitoring by TradingBeats (formerly Hyperinsight), a suspected liquidity provider address 0x17c3 (which has significant financial interactions with the FalconX funding network) took on large short positions during the crude oil price surge. Approximately $26.05 million of these positions were passively executed through Maker orders, accounting for 54.2%, while the remainder were actively executed as Taker orders. Currently, the address is shorting approximately 245,100 WTI crude oil contracts and 243,400 Brent crude oil contracts with 3x leverage. The WTI crude oil short position is valued at approximately $20.445 million, with an average entry price of $79.02 per barrel, resulting in a floating loss of about $1.079 million. The Brent crude oil short position is valued at approximately $21.538 million, with an average entry price of $83.83 per barrel, resulting in a floating loss of about $1.132 million. Combined, the two crude oil short positions are valued at approximately $41.983 million, with a total floating loss of about $2.211 million, accounting for 90.7% of the address's total holdings of $46.268 million. If these positions are considered as net inventory formed through market-making, today's rise in oil prices has significantly pressured the entity's crude oil short inventory. Fund flow data shows that the address transferred $10 million USDC into the account early this morning. Since the crude oil price surge began on August 7, the address has made multiple transfers, totaling $25 million. These fund transfers coincide with the period of rising oil prices and expanding short position losses, possibly to increase the margin buffer and maintain inventory capacity. The address currently holds 26 positions across various assets, with a total notional value of approximately $46.268 million and an overall floating loss of about $2.152 million. Over the past 30 days, cumulative losses have reached approximately $6.102 million. [Original Link]
