Today, I had a chat with a friend in the industry who specializes in PR and media about this CASE. His opinion aligns in some ways with @punk2898's—one word to describe it: 'too big to control.' At this point, no matter how Binance tries to distance itself within the crypto circle, it’s a bit late. Others are specifically targeting Web2 to build their own brand and anchor their positioning. Didn’t it recently come out that they’re funding and rewarding promotions for those 'Crown Prince' video clips that are getting tons of likes? Thinking back to those marketing posts I occasionally see on Xiaohongshu from small accounts about Crown Prince A9 and Trump’s 'special friend,' it’s hard to say they’re not part of a self-promotion strategy. Gotta admit, he’s got talent. He’s probably the first Chinese crypto figure after Brother Sun to consciously focus on personal branding in Web2. But for Binance, it’s awkward because he’s leveraging Binance’s name for this. Fishing for gold-digging girls or whatever is a minor issue. The real concern is if one day he pulls some kind of scam or causes other trouble, and Binance gets dragged into it when things go south in China. The problem is, no matter how much the crypto circle tries to openly or subtly distance itself, it’s hard to influence Web2. The saying 'a lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is still putting on its shoes' applies here. Others can spend a little money to run hundreds of small accounts and keep hyping up the 'Binance Crown Prince' title in creative ways—after all, the returns far outweigh the costs. But unless Binance hires dedicated professionals and allocates a budget to specifically counter this narrative in Web2, relying on a few informed retail investors to sporadically comment won’t cut it. The effort is just not on the same level. Oh well, let Binance’s PR team deal with this headache. I’ll just focus on figuring out how to make more money for now.
