[ByteDance Establishes New AI Data and Security Division] According to 36Kr, ByteDance has recently established a new first-tier division called 'AI Data and Security,' which operates parallel to departments such as Seed, Flow, and Douyin. The division is led by Adam Wang (Wang Yinglei), the former head of TikTok's platform responsibility and live streaming. Its core mission is to provide cross-modal data services for all of ByteDance's large models. The division integrates the Global Data team, founded in 2023 by TikTok founding team member Fu Yue, along with the group's data middle platform DMC and Flow's AI Data Platform (AIDP). It covers the entire process, including data standard formulation, sourcing and procurement, synthesis and cleansing, quality evaluation, and security compliance. Previously, ByteDance had invested over tens of millions of dollars in data budgets for training world models and code models, adopting a competitive 'horse race' mechanism to divide teams into areas such as world models, code, and advanced academic disciplines.
