Microsoft Plans to Significantly Increase Production of In-House AI Chips, Next-Gen MAIA 300 to Launch in September

Microsoft believes its self-developed MAIA chips can run both the company's proprietary models and OpenAI's models at a lower cost. The company plans to increase its use of MAIA chips internally, actively attract major clients, and significantly boost the production of these chips. It is reported that Microsoft plans to release the next-generation MAIA 300 AI chip in September 2026. Microsoft has been in talks with TSMC (TSM.N) to secure production capacity for over 300,000 MAIA chips, with delivery scheduled for 2027.
