[U.S. Official: Trump to Decide How Long to Hold Intel Stock]
BlockBeats News, August 10: Kevin Hassett, Director of the U.S. National Economic Council, stated that U.S. President Donald Trump will decide how long to hold Intel (INTC.O) stock.
BlockBeats previously reported that on June 18, U.S. President Trump posted on social media, saying that it is clear the U.S. needs to bring the semiconductor industry back to domestic soil. 'We design everything, and we (also) need to manufacture in the U.S. right now. So I decided to help Intel because we need to design and manufacture our chips in America.
First, we brought in NVIDIA, and they agreed to collaborate with Intel to produce their Tier 1 chips. Second, Elon Musk agreed to build his TerraFab, the world's largest chip factory, and co-design with Intel's technical team. Finally, Apple has agreed to work with Intel to design and manufacture its chips in the U.S.
We decided to help Intel in exchange for a 10% stake in the company. Is that too much or too little? When the U.S. government made the offer, they were valued at approximately $100 billion. Now, they are worth over $600 billion. In nine months, their value has increased by more than $500 billion. The U.S. government's stake is now worth over $60 billion.'
