[GameStop CEO Considering Withdrawal of $56 Billion eBay Acquisition Proposal] BlockBeats News, August 10: According to market sources, GameStop (GME.N) CEO Cohen is reportedly considering withdrawing the $56 billion acquisition proposal for eBay. Previously, on May 3, GameStop had officially proposed acquiring 100% equity of eBay at $125 per share, with a total equity value of approximately $55.5 billion, and disclosed that it had established around 5% economic interest through stocks and derivatives. At the time, GameStop stated that the transaction was planned to be financed with approximately $9.4 billion in cash and liquid investments, along with up to $20 billion in acquisition financing support from TD Securities. On June 26, the company further stated that management was still advancing the proposed acquisition, with more materials to be released subsequently. However, eBay's board of directors formally rejected the non-binding proposal on May 12, stating that the offer was "neither credible nor attractive," specifically citing uncertainties in the financing plan, post-merger leverage and operational risks, as well as governance and management incentives. eBay also noted that prior to receiving the proposal, it had not engaged in any discussions or negotiations with GameStop regarding the matter.
