SpaceX SPCX has recently shown a classic short squeeze trend. Before the August 6 unlock, the bearish sentiment was overwhelming, coupled with the stock price continuously declining for a month, accumulating a massive amount of shorts. It’s like a powder keg, just waiting for a spark to ignite.
Recent bullish catalysts:
1. The futuristic and sleek Terafab chip factory.
2. Argus upgraded to 'Buy' on Thursday, with a target price of 160 (not guaranteed to reach).
3. Cursor’s $60 billion transaction reportedly set to close this week.
4. Cathie Wood (aka 'Wood姐') added $13.2 million to her position.
These factors are heating things up and igniting the rally step by step.
Since there’s another batch of unlocks coming on August 20, it’s not a straightforward bullish case. Although this unlock is smaller in scale compared to August 6, the level of panic might be noticeably lower. Still, I think the ceiling for this wave is around 145, which is fine by me since I’m stuck at around 160. My plan is to open an equal amount of short positions to lock in my floating loss near 140, then close the shorts after a pullback stabilizes and wait for the next rebound to break even.
But this is just the ideal plan—who knows if this stock will keep surging and crazily squeezing shorts? We’ll have to take it step by step.
Also, keep an eye on RKLB’s earnings report after the market closes on Monday, August 10. This will be a good opportunity to verify whether the space sector is driven by fundamentals or just pure rotation. SPCX is likely to move in tandem.
