[OpenAI Teaches Users to Replace Claude Code with GPT Model, Employees from Both Sides Exchange Barbs After Account Suspension]
According to monitoring by 动察 Beating, OpenAI's product lead Tibo previously publicly taught users how to "swap brains" for Claude Code: retaining Claude Code's harness while replacing the underlying model with GPT. Developer Alex Getman followed the configuration and soon found his Claude account suspended. He publicly sought help from Tibo and Anthropic, asking whether this usage violated any rules. Tibo responded with a sarcastic tone: "I’d love to help you, but unfortunately, I don’t work at Anthropic." He added that it was "indeed quite strange" for an account to be suspended simply for pairing Claude Code's harness with another model, and asked if anyone else had encountered the same issue.
Claude Code's lead Boris Cherny quickly stepped in. He clarified that Anthropic would not suspend accounts simply for using the harness with other models, and that this incident was almost certainly triggered by other risk controls. The account was subsequently reinstated. Boris also took the opportunity to fire back at Tibo: "If you’re interested in joining Anthropic, we’re hiring." Tibo responded by saying he was very happy with his current team and that he had several new products to launch in the coming weeks, so he wasn’t planning to go anywhere for now.
After the issue was resolved, Tibo posted a celebratory update, stating that GPT-5.6 Sol could be used almost anywhere, including with Claude Code harness. To celebrate this development and his decision "not to switch jobs," he also reset the usage limits for all paid users of ChatGPT Work and Codex. [Original link]
