Trading gold? I gotta hand it to Chinese aunties~
Back when gold was at its peak, my aunt and my mom were all saying they wanted to sell their jewelry. They had one reason: once the war is over, prices will drop.
Now, recently, they bought their jewelry back, saying it’s too cheap to pass up.
Then I checked the macro data, and wow, the aunties’ moves are basically in sync with the Chinese government. Unreal!
China’s central bank announced another 20-ton gold purchase in July, marking the largest single-month increase since October 2023!
That’s 21 consecutive months of net buying:
After stepping up purchases in May (+10 tons) and June (+15 tons), July saw an even bigger move with 20 tons added.
In the first 7 months of this year, the Chinese central bank has officially added 60 tons of gold to its reserves, pushing the total to a record-breaking 2,366 tons.
