Just found out that Zhipu founder Tang Jie was Kimi founder Yang Zhilin's research mentor during his undergraduate studies at Tsinghua. Yang Zhilin's participation in Tsinghua's special gold thesis defense was also recommended by Tang Jie as his mentor. On the other hand, the other two co-founders of MoonDark, Zhang Yutao, were also guided by Tang Jie, and Zhou Xinyu had research collaborations with him. Gotta say, the two leading domestic large model teams, GLM and KIMI, actually have core founding members originating from the same research system. From early top conference papers, knowledge graph research, to large model pre-training exploration, they share a consistent academic foundation.
