The CLARITY Act Still Holds a Glimmer of Hope for Passage in September as the U.S. Senate Initiates Preliminary Voting Procedures

BlockBeats News, August 8: After an overnight voting session, U.S. Senate Majority Leader John Thune submitted a 'motion to proceed' for the Cryptocurrency Market Structure Act (known as the CLARITY Act) early Saturday morning local time, officially initiating the preliminary procedural voting process for the bill in the Senate. This marks the most significant progress to date. Although this move comes too late to allow for voting before the Senate's August recess, it lays the groundwork for the first procedural vote to be almost immediately initiated upon the Senate's return in September (potentially on the second day of the session).
The bill has now entered the Senate's complex 'cloture' process, which requires 60 votes to advance, with the ultimate goal of passing the legislation. The Senate will only be in session for about three weeks in September, after which lawmakers will shift their focus to the midterm elections in November.
