According to Bloomberg, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has issued letters to all exchanges offering event contracts, requiring entities under its regulation to comply with U.S. derivatives trading laws. The CFTC emphasized that deceptive practices are prohibited in contract listings, client solicitation, or advertising. Specifically, the CFTC stated that American-style betting odds cannot be used to market related products. Derivatives prices should be presented as nominal amounts or percentages reflecting market pricing, rather than in the odds format used by casinos and bookmakers. The CFTC believes such odds could mislead market participants about the nature of the trades and potentially steer consumers toward higher-margin gambling products. Relevant introducing brokers, futures commission merchants, and designated contract markets must confirm receipt of the notice by August 31. Kalshi has stated it will comply with the requirements on time, while Polymarket has yet to respond to a request for comment. https://(wublock123.com)/news/cftc-predictive-markets-no-american-betting-odds-66124
