According to CoinDesk, citing insiders, BitMEX spent about two years seeking a buyer before announcing its shutdown, reaching out to several potential buyers, including Exodus, but ultimately failed to close a deal. Potential buyers were mainly concerned about the fact that founders Arthur Hayes, Ben Delo, and Samuel Reed still controlled the vast majority of the company’s equity, as well as BitMEX’s shrinking business, declining market share, and historical legal and reputation issues. Reportedly, BitMEX was seeking a valuation of around $1 billion during the sale process, but it’s unclear if any formal offers were received. Its parent company, HDR Global Trading, announced on July 24 that BitMEX would be gradually shutting down, with operations set to cease on September 23. https://(wublock123.com)/news/bitmex-sought-1b-valuation-sale-failed-equity-structure-shrinking-business-66119
