[Philippines' $40 Billion Outsourcing Industry Hit by AI, 1.9 Million Workers Face Transformation]
Deep Tide TechFlow reports that on August 7, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) recently stated that the Philippines' $40 billion outsourcing industry is facing severe disruption from AI technology. This industry employs 1.9 million workers and serves as a crucial pillar of the Philippine economy. According to the report, over two-thirds of the industry members have initiated AI pilot projects in pursuit of transformation and upgrading. The chairman of the Philippine Outsourcing Industry Association candidly admitted that the industry has already seen some job losses, but also pointed out that most affected workers have successfully transitioned to other positions. Interestingly, during the initial phase of automation transformation, the workload has actually increased rather than immediately decreased, providing workers with a certain transition period.
