Last time the U.S. Senate voted to hold someone in criminal contempt of Congress & refer them to Justice Dept. for prosecution was in September 2024 against then-Steward Health Care CEO Ralph de la Torre for failing to comply with a HELP Cmte subpoena to testify. Senate Homeland Security Cmte Chair Paul told reporters, after his cmte voted 8-5 along party lines (with 2 voting No by proxy) to recommend contempt charges against Dr. Anthony Fauci, that he plans to “hand deliver" the referral to DOJ, instead of calling for a full Senate vote. https://x.com/cspan/status/2085354969675542633(Craig Caplan)
