Due to leverage restrictions, Koreans have turned to U.S. stocks to gamble. Since the end of last month, after Korea imposed leverage restrictions, many retail investors didn’t leave the market but instead moved their money to U.S. stocks to play with leveraged ETFs. In just the past 10 days, the most purchased by Koreans was the 3x long semiconductor ETF, with a trading volume 9 times that of Micron. During the same period, Korean bros also heavily bought the 3x long Korea stock market ETF and the 2x long Tesla ETF.
