Exchanges and their on-chain U.S. stocks claim to offer 24/7 trading. During regular U.S. stock trading hours, exchanges anchor to the real stock prices from Dow Jones and Nasdaq markets, then quote those prices to customers for transactions. In reality, it’s a betting game. On-chain U.S. stocks during trading hours rely on centralized oracles to feed prices to customers.
However, outside of U.S. stock trading hours, crypto exchanges or so-called on-chain U.S. stock trading lose their price anchors. Prices are determined by centralized exchanges and oracles. If you’re trading U.S. stock contracts, events like the 1011 incident can happen anytime—for example, Tesla’s price dropping from $320 to $32 in a flash, then instantly bouncing back, causing both long and short positions to get liquidated. They can manipulate however they want, and you have nowhere to complain. Didn’t the 1011 incident just end without any resolution?
