[Hong Kong Monetary Authority Responds to 'Second Batch of Stablecoin Licenses Issued Around National Day': No Comment on Market Rumors, Maintains an Open but Cautious Stance]
According to a report by Cailian Press, recent market rumors suggest that with the first batch of stablecoin issuers advancing testing and business preparations, the issuance of stablecoins in Hong Kong may accelerate further, and the second batch of stablecoin issuer licenses could potentially be issued around National Day.
In response to the above market rumors, a spokesperson for the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) replied to a Cailian Press reporter today, stating that they do not comment on market rumors. However, regarding the issuance of additional stablecoin issuer licenses and the timeline, the HKMA maintains an open but cautious stance and currently has no clear inclination.
The spokesperson further noted that the current focus of the HKMA's work is to facilitate the business preparations of the two licensed stablecoin issuers and, after they successfully issue compliant stablecoins, to observe the implementation of related application scenarios, operational effectiveness, and market response.
