According to the Los Angeles Times, former LAPD officer Eric Halem was sentenced to life imprisonment plus 15 years in state prison by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Mildred Escobedo for his involvement in a violent home invasion robbery and kidnapping targeting a teenager in Koreatown in December 2024. The trial revealed that Halem and his accomplices posed as police officers to break into the apartment of a 17-year-old, using violent threats to force him to hand over a hard drive containing $350,000 worth of Bitcoin. The judge stated that Halem abused his authority as a law enforcement officer to commit the crime, describing his actions as extremely egregious. Halem is also facing other pending charges related to similar cryptocurrency-related robberies and insurance fraud. https://www.(wublock123.com)/news/news-65940
