According to WuShuo, three men in the U.S. have been charged with conspiracy to interfere with commerce through robbery, a crime that carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. Case details reveal that between August 21 and 24, 2024, the trio was hired to travel to Connecticut, where they attempted to coerce the parents of an individual involved in the theft of hundreds of millions of dollars in Bitcoin. Using kidnapping and threats, they tried to force the victim to transfer cryptocurrency to a designated account. Fearing surveillance and facing communication issues with their accomplices, the three fled. Shortly after, another group from Florida took over the operation and was arrested by Danbury police on August 25, 2024.
Currently, two of the men are in custody and pleaded not guilty in court on July 30, 2026, while the third appeared in court on July 17, pleaded not guilty, and was released on bail.
