.@Visa and Lianlian DigiTech just completed Greater China’s first live B2B purchase by an AI agent. It identified the company's needs, compared suppliers, placed the order and paid within rules set by the business. While the purchase was only for a low-stakes product sample, this is a good example of how enterprise AI autonomy will likely spread. Companies will start with small, reversible decisions, then gradually increase an agent’s budget and authority as it proves reliable. Visa is building the trust infrastructure merchants need to accept those transactions. Its Agentic Directory confirms that the agent is a legitimate participant, while its Trusted Agent Protocol is designed to prove that the agent is authorized to perform that specific action. But any business deploying an agent with purchase capabilities still needs to understand the decisions that came before the payment. Why did it choose that supplier? What alternatives did it consider? Did every step follow the instructions and limits it was given?
