According to Business Insider, in response to Apple's earlier trade secret lawsuit, OpenAI issued an official statement on August 4, stating that Apple's allegations are "reckless, aggressive, and factually incorrect," and disclosed email records as evidence. OpenAI pointed out that Apple claimed to have contacted OpenAI in February this year but received no response. In reality, Apple's external lawyer mistakenly sent the email to the wrong recipient due to name confusion, and Apple admitted that it had not communicated with OpenAI's General Counsel. Apple had previously accused OpenAI of obtaining confidential information through former employees Chang Liu and Tang Tan. OpenAI denied this allegation, stating that Apple employees continued to consult Liu about documents and technical issues even after his resignation, due to Apple's failure to promptly revoke the former employee's system access permissions.
