[Analyst: Too Much of the SpaceX Story Belongs to the Future, and Many Things Remain Unfinished]
Following its highly anticipated initial public offering (IPO), SpaceX (SPCX.O) released its first financial report, becoming one of Wall Street's most awaited events this summer. However, whether this report can provide investors with a reason to buy into this continuously declining stock is another matter. As of Monday's close, SpaceX's stock price stood at $114.53, down about 15% from its IPO offering price and nearly 50% from the peak reached on June 16. Based on the peak valuation, the company's market cap has evaporated by over $1 trillion. The financial report will give investors an opportunity to reassess the stock. But the issue lies in the fact that SpaceX has yet to achieve profitability, and its business model remains highly speculative. As a result, the financial report may ultimately raise more questions than provide answers.
