Check out @jukan05's take on TrendForce's optimistic view of how open-source models benefit cloud providers: The rise of open-source models is breaking the monopoly of closed-source models, transforming CSPs from token resellers into AI operating systems. Cloud providers now control routing, customers, and pricing, allowing them to directly host open-source models and sell tokens, reducing external revenue sharing. At the same time, open-source competition is driving up training investments and usage volumes. This creates a positive cycle: lower model-layer costs → improved cloud provider monetization efficiency → cheaper inference spurs new demand → high data center utilization drives continuous compute power investment.
