ChangXin Memory Plans to Build a Second Chip Factory in Beijing
According to Reuters, ChangXin Memory is considering building another memory chip factory in Beijing and is in early-stage talks with a government-supported tech park for financing.
Last month, ChangXin Memory completed an $8.6 billion IPO, marking the largest listing in the history of the mainland semiconductor industry. The company is now aggressively expanding production.
The new factory is planned to be located in Beijing Yizhuang. Currently, the company has two 12-inch DRAM factories in Hefei and one in Beijing. With the new factories under construction in Shanghai and Hefei, the total production capacity is expected to double to over 600,000 wafers per month once fully operational.
However, ChangXin Memory currently ranks fourth in the global DRAM market share, still far behind Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, and Micron.
