According to Livecoins, Brazilian police discovered a suspected illegal Bitcoin mining operation at a scrapyard. On-site, they seized 15 ASIC miners and 3 servers, with the equipment valued at over $39,400. Local power company Cemig determined that the mining farm was using illegally tapped electricity, causing an estimated monthly loss of about $11,800. A 37-year-old employee was arrested on the spot for alleged theft and possession of stolen goods, as he failed to explain the source of the equipment or provide purchase documentation. Authorities are currently investigating the destination of the mined cryptocurrency, the origin of the equipment, and whether a criminal organization is involved.
