I was halfway through writing my article, and wow, what the heck—then I saw this.
Trump did it *again*—TACO! WTI instantly dropped below $83, and Bitcoin ($BTC) bounced back in response (this is exactly the bottom range oscillation I’ve been talking about). Why does it feel like things are shifting way too fast?
Just this morning, Trump was talking about escalating strikes, and now he’s calling them off in exchange for a deal.
Honestly, I’m wondering if things will flip-flop again tonight, being Sunday and all. Let’s wait and see. Still holding onto my oil short positions.
But to be fair, Trump doesn’t have much time left. Pushing for peace talks before the July FOMC meeting shows he’s really concerned about inflation and interest rates. Plus, the July CPI data is coming out on 8/12.
Now that it’s August, with the September FOMC meeting and the midterm elections in November, time is running out for Trump—and for Iran too.
On top of that, Trump also has to consider the state of the stock and bond markets.
All in all, the market wants to see geopolitical risks ease and oil prices drop. That would not only relieve inflationary pressure but also boost U.S. stocks and Bitcoin.
Let’s hope there’s no more back-and-forth this weekend. DYOR.
