According to data from Hashrate Index cited by CoinDesk, Bitcoin mining difficulty has recently dropped by 0.74% to 126.23 T, down about 14% from its January 2026 peak and approximately 19.1% from its all-time high. It’s also below the level from a year ago, marking only the second time in Bitcoin’s history that difficulty has seen a year-over-year decline. The report suggests that weaker $BTC prices, declining mining revenues, and miners reallocating funds and power resources to AI and high-performance computing businesses are the main factors putting pressure on hashrate growth. The hashrate futures market predicts only slight improvements in unit hashrate revenue within the year.
