Some OGs are telling folks to spend days, weeks practicing using their Bitcoin. Learn every in and out of the hardware, have backups, roll dice, create layers of entropy. And presently that is good cogent advice. The problem is that that is a fucking awful user experience that needs to be improved for there to be any long term adoption curve. People by and large prefer to outsource complexity, especially with their finances. This is not going to change. Until the industry figures out how to simplify the process of ownership while maintaining key integrity, self custody will remain a niche enterprise and will lose ground to custodians and proxy instruments.
