According to NBC News, former Congressman George Santos has agreed to pay $35,000 to settle a federal investigation into suspicious trading on the Kalshi prediction platform. Previously, he had placed a bet that he would not attend President Donald Trump's State of the Union address. The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) stated that the settlement includes over $17,000 in profits George Santos made from illegal trading, as well as a $17,500 fine. The agency also imposed a three-year trading ban on Santos. George Santos stated that reaching a settlement with the CFTC was to "completely resolve the matter" and added that he did not admit to any wrongdoing.
