⚠️Whoa, Coldcard just dropped a security advisory.
If you generated a seed on a Mk3 with firmware 4.0.1 or later (and didn't use dice rolls or a BIP-39 passphrase), that seed can have way less entropy than it should. Coinkite's own analysis puts the practical figure around 72 bits instead of the expected 128. Mk3 cases are even weaker than that.
Timing lines up with about 594 BTC ($38M) getting swept from roughly 500 single-sig wallets, many of them dormant, in a coordinated move. Experts are tying it to the weak entropy, though Coinkite hasn't confirmed the link yet.(Lark Davis)
