[WEMIX Releases Security Incident Update: Exploiter Utilized Vulnerability in Public On-Chain Smart Contracts, No Private Key Compromise]
WEMIX has released an analysis of the cause and response update regarding the WEMIX$ security incident. On July 26, ownership of two smart contracts was transferred to an unauthorized third party. The affected contracts are DIOS (designed to maintain the price stability of WEMIX$) and AMA (designed to exchange WEMIX$ for collateral assets at a 1:1 ratio). The attacker deployed a malicious contract in a single transaction, took control of these two contracts, and executed nine rounds of flash loan and swap transactions, resulting in the illegal minting of 5,225,524.9997 WEMIX$. This incident did not involve a breach of WEMIX's internal systems or the leakage of administrator private keys but rather exploited vulnerabilities in publicly available on-chain smart contracts.
